Bayside Seafood Grill & Bar Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Major Renovation
Naples, Fla. (May 26, 2010) – On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Bayside Seafood Grill & Bar will close for the first time in its history to undergo a top-to-bottom renovation of its 6,500 square feet of interior space. The restaurant opened in 1990 as the first business on Venetian Village’s south side. While Bayside has refurbished its interiors in the past, this is a significant renovation that will reconfigure its interiors and give the restaurant a clean, fresh design that is more contemporary.
Bayside will be closed as of Sunday, June 13th for the estimated nine-week renovation. According to Co-Owner Sukie Honeycutt, “Our goal is to update the restaurant’s interior to give it a clean, current look and to take maximum advantage of the panoramic views of Venetian Bay.”
The restaurant’s entry will be replaced with a glass storefront that affords grand water views upon diners’ entry as well as for passersby. The interior design of the downstairs bar is inspired by a seaside cottage. White bead board will be used against pale blue walls and will be offset by contrasting dark blue tongue-and-groove distressed wood. A crisp, airy look will extend to cottage furniture in the entry and dining room. A highlight of the new design is the cobalt blue Avonite bar top. Lit from beneath and with pendant lights hanging above, it will emanate a soft blue glow in the evenings. A significant layout change is the move of the piano from the entrance of the dining area to its own corner near the water, giving the piano bar a stage-like setting with dramatic views of Venetian Village’s signature architecture. The wall around the top of the stairs will be replaced with glass panels, creating more synergy between the upstairs and downstairs.
Bayside’s upstairs dining room will be gutted. Smaller columns will replace the current massive columns to take advantage of the ceiling height and to open up the panoramic views. Glass panels will unite the room’s separate dining areas to offer water views from anywhere in the room, and half-walls will be finished with iridescent tiles to enhance the glowing effect throughout the restaurant. Expansive glass doors will lead from the upstairs dining room to the Upper Deck Bar, affording an open-air ambience for indoor diners.
“Upon reopening, Bayside Seafood Grill & Bar will celebrate the beginning of its next 20 years as Naples’ leading waterfront restaurant,” said Ms. Honeycutt.
