Dad’s Day Out at The Village Shops!
On June 16, 2018 The Village Shops hosted another successful Dad’s Day Out event! Families near and far came out to celebrate the special Dad in their lives and to enjoy a memorable day on the Bay.
At 10am the people filed in, strolling along the north side of The Village, admiring the 30+ antique cars. The Naples-Marco Island Antique Automobile Club of America created quite the lineup this year with cars of all different makes, models, colors, and sizes. The car owners showed off the pristine condition of their vehicles – popping the hoods, showing the interior, and honking their old fashioned horns – for all generations to admire.
To make an already special day even better, The Village Shops provided complimentary coffee, water, juice, and pastries for Dads to enjoy in between viewing the cars. The Village Shops also offered complimentary printout and email photos of families, a keepsake to remember a fun-filled Dad’s Day Out!
Guests made several loops, from 10am-12pm, trying to decide their favorite antique car and making sure they cast their vote. At 12:30pm, the ballots were counted and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were announced and presented with a trophy.
The 1st place trophy was awarded to car #3, a miniature antique vehicle built with care by its owner. This car was a fan favorite because of its small build and vintage horn that was heard by all. Many guests were even given the opportunity to take a photo inside of the #1 vehicle!
The 2nd place trophy was awarded to car #7. The iconic 1964 yellow Rolls Royce with purple flames was hard to miss. “The Ultimate Street Rod”, as it was named, drew a crowd when guests discovered that Sir Elton John had previously owned the vehicle.
The 3rd place trophy was awarded to car #1. This 1970 Super Sport Chevrolet Chevelle, with its shiny black exterior and two white stripes, was the ultimate symbol of an American muscle car!
