Women’s History Month Spotlight: Muse Inspired Fashion

Founded in 2003 by Lisa Doss, Muse Inspired Fashion quickly became a staple for locals in Memphis and a must-visit destination for tourists. By 2006, Muse had expanded to include a boutique in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana followed by a second location in New Orleans’ Garden District in 2018.

In 2021, Lisa and her family visited their friend, Angi Wilson, the owner of Lux Boutique at The Village Shops. Upon finding out that her Village neighbor was retiring, Muse found a new home in Naples, Florida!

Muse Inspired Fashion has always been synonymous with unique, creative style. In keeping with the brand’s flair for bright fun clothing, shoes and jewelry, Lisa brought her own twist to Florida fashion. She has stayed true to her long-time staples, Johnny Was and Tempo Paris, but has added New York designer Oo La La with their scuba jackets and embellished denim. Additionally, they added Florida designers Viviana Gabeiras with her colorful mesh fabrics and Lior with their brightly colored pants and dresses! Plus, since everyone in Naples needs an active line, Lisa added the SPF 50 enhanced, Florida based, AnaClare, with their skorts, tops and dresses.

In 2009, Muse had a surprise twist with Lisa’s husband, Steve Doss, joining the company. Even though they had sold menswear before, the bar was raised extraordinarily to include their private label Muse sport coats. Recently the boutique expanded its menswear collections to include A Fish Named Fred and Stock. As Steve and Lisa will tell you, “Men like to stand out too!”.

Lisa’s favorite thing about owning her own boutique is the “find”. When shopping for new lines, whether it be clothing or jewelry or menswear, she gets excited about emerging designers. She loves to try new things and is thrilled when customers appreciate her “eclectic look”!

Although the Naples location is the smallest of The Muse Inspired Fashion locations, it certainly packs a punch with their amazing twist on both men’s and women’s fashion. Celebrate Lisa Doss this Women’s History Month by visiting Muse Inspired Fashion, located on the south side of The Village Shops in suite 4202.
